Wizterie

10 First Steps, a student game development team from Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Joensuu, Finland, has announced “Wizterie”. In “Wizterie”, players follow a young Mage searching for their lost magic while exploring a mysterious village, helping its residents, and meeting strange characters along the way. The game combines cozy exploration, emotional storytelling, and whimsical fantasy atmosphere.

The name “Wizterie” comes from the words wizard and mystery, which reflects magic and secrets in the story.It also sounds like Wisteria, a beautiful tree that matches the soft and magical mood of our world.The logo design follows this idea — a mix of mystery, nature, and fantasy. It hints at a growing story where the player uncovers the secret of lost magic.

Currently in development for PC, Wizterie combines cozy exploration, narrative-focused gameplay, and stylized hand-crafted graphics. The game follows a protagonist who constantly struggles between confidence and self-doubt while attempting to become a “real” wizard.

Rather than focusing on combat or fast-paced action, Wizterie places emphasis on atmosphere, character interactions, and emotional storytelling. Players explore whimsical locations, encounter unusual personalities.

“We want Wizterie to feel like a small escape from everyday stress,” says the development team. “A comforting and magical world where players can slow down, explore, and connect with unusual characters.”

The project is being developed by a student indie team based in East Finland. In addition to gameplay and narrative design, the team is also producing original illustrations, animations, and worldbuilding materials for the game’s universe.

The developers say the project draws inspiration from cozy fantasy games, illustrated children’s books, and emotional coming-of-age stories. More materials related to the project, including artwork and development updates can be seen on our Instagram
